Fluorosis

This occurs when a child gets too much fluoride while teeth are developing in the jaw. Defects in the enamel of the tooth can occur. Before having your child take fluoride supplements, find out if the water in your community contains the optimum amount of fluoride.

Always monitor your child while brushing their teeth so they do not swallow toothpaste. Teach them how to spit, and only use a smear to a small pea size of toothpaste for brushing. Fluoride prevents tooth decay, so getting enough and not too much, is essential for oral health.
